How the Medifast Diet Works

5 & 1 Plan

the edifast 5 & 1 Plan is the initial weight loss package plan.   This plan includes SIX small meals a day,-no going hungry here!  The plan name comes from the 5 Medifast Meals and 1 Lean & Green Meal that is provided by the individual.  Medifast offers an incredible variety of meals and meal replacements, just so you don’t get bored and tempted to cheat.  You can choose any 5 Medifast Meals, which include shakes, bars, soups, pudding, oatmeal, scrambled eggs and more! In fact, there are over 60 Medifast Meals to choose from-so variety is never an issue. In addition, you can eat the main meal of the day with your friends and family without taking out your special ‘diet food,’ because you select and prepare a daily Lean & Green Meal of your choice.  The guidelines are simple, make sure it consists of a balance of lean protein (such as beef, chicken or fish) and salad or vegetables, in appropriate portion sizes, of course.  With the six meals you get to eat every 2 to 3 hours, so its perfect for snackers, and dieters with low blood sugar.  The pre-packaged meals make it easy for even the busiest person to grab and go-staying on your diet has never been so easy!

Transition

Transition is the name for the Medifast program you begin after you have reached your goal weight.  Unlike most fasd diets, Medifast sticks with you past the dramatic before and after pictures, and makes sure you have a program in place to make sure your ‘after’ stays around for a long time!  Transition is a happy stage, where you are reintroduced foods that were temporarily put on hold for you to reach your target weight.  Things like fruits, low-fat dairy products, whole grains and higher-carbohydrate vegetables are added back into your diet, which will have more calories than the dramatic weight-drop diet.  The process is slow, so don’t get ahead of the game, as your body needs time to adjuct to the new levels of calories and carbohydrates-we want to make sure they are getting burned and not stored as fast! With the 5 & 1 Plan you developed portion control and healthy eating habits like small, frequent meals. The Transition pland and the Maintenance plan are structured to reinforce these patterns of healthy eating.

Maintenance

Exercise

The Medifast diet also provides each participant with a Medifast Exercise Guide, informing them on how to integrate exercise conveniently along with the Medifast diet program. Every successful weight loss plan includes helping individuals develop more active lifestyles, as burning calories is just as important as limiting them.  Regular exercise is a necessary part of losing weight and maintaining weight loss.
